چکیده

Background: Masquelet technique involves two stages for reconstruction of bony defects. During stage one decontamination and debridement is performed. The bone defect filled by a spacer made cement. After gap around 6 weeks, bio-membrane established the cement spacer. two, removed cancellous autologous graft used to fill space that was previously occupied However, there huge scarcity literature on defects in foot metatarsals, especially open injuries require soft tissue coverage also. Methods: This prospective study involved 25 patients with minimum follow-up 12 months. Masquelet’s reconstruct large metatarsals staged manner. primary outcome variable union consolidation bone. secondary variables included complications functional using Maryland score. Results: One needed below knee amputation extensive infection. Pin site infection commonest indication observed deep table at time second patients. Both re-do new placed which six weeks. Hallux varus deformity final follow-up. Excluding patient amputation, all had mean score 79.45±8.8. Good excellent among 91.66% Conclusions: induced membrane potentially fruitful method deal created fractures feet. due limited sample size lack control group, we recommend scale randomized trials be conducted subject.

Sesamoid Bone Blocking Fracture Reduction in Traumatic Injury of First Metatarsal

We describe a patient who sustained an extra-articular, oblique and angulated first metatarsal fracture. The medial hallucal sesamoid bone was subsequently found to have entered the fracture gap preventing reduction. We describe treatment of this rare injury with a successful outcome.

Bone loss and bone size after menopause.

BACKGROUND Bone loss increases after menopause. However, bone strength also depends on structural characteristics such as bone size. Whether bone size increases as a result of periosteal apposition and whether a strength index accounting for both bone density and bone size might predict the risk of fracture better than bone density alone are unclear. METHODS Bone mass and the skeletal structu...

Regional cortical and trabecular bone loss after spinal cord injury.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) triggers rapid loss of trabecular bone mineral density (BMD) in bone epiphyses and a loss of cortical cross-sectional area (CSA) in bone diaphyses, increasing fracture risk for people with SCI. The purpose of this study was to measure trabecular BMD and cortical CSA loss at several previously unexamined lower-limb sites (4% fibula, 12% femur, 86% tibia, cortical) in ind...

Implant bone reconstruction using allogenic bone grafts

t implant bone reconstruction using allogenic bone grafts is a technique based on, not only the bone regeneration advantages, but also those of the tissue increase to correct the bone volume lacks in the peri-implant areas. This is about an increase in width of the alveolar crest by adjunctions of allogenic bone grafts which are first adapted to the local tissues and then stabilized with micros...
